All gifts made to the Friends of the Portage Zhang Senior Center are tax-deductible as permitted by law. Contact the Portage Zhang Senior Center for more information on donations, becoming a member of the Friends of the Portage Zhang Senior Center or serving on the board.
A Tribute Gift: is a donation in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one, extended family member, friend, or colleague. These gifts can be processed via our Donate Now option or mailed to the Portage Zhang Senior Center. Notification of these gifts takes approximately two weeks to process.
Publicly Traded Securities (Stock): may be donated to The Friends of the Portage Zhang Senior Center.
A Matched Gift: is a donation from a corporation or business that matches a charitable gift from an employee (or a retiree) of the company at a specific ratio set by the employer, the most common being 1:1. All matching gifts require that the employee (or retiree) completes a matching gift form that is then provided to the PZSC to confirm the individual’s gift and returned by the PZSC to the employer.
A Recurring Gift: is an ongoing financial commitment with a start but no specific end date. The donor can generate a recurring gift online by completing the organization’s online merchant service provider form.
A Bequest: in your will or trust is an easy way to make a deferred gift to The Portage Zhang Senior Center.
In-Kind (Non-Cash) Gifts: of tangible personal property such as works of art, antiques, collectibles, and equipment may be made. Please contact Kim Phillips, Manager of The Portage Zhang Senior Center, at 269-329-4555 for more information.
Life Insurance: for which all the premiums have been paid is an ideal way to make a charitable contribution as long as the life insurance policy names the Portage Zhang Senior Center as the owner and beneficiary.
Scholarships: The PZSC is fortunate to maintain a scholarship program through the Friends of the PZSC. Members of the PZSC or community at large who are experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact Manager Kim Phillips or Deputy Director, Senior Citizen Services Kimberly Middleton for additional information regarding scholarships. All information is kept confidential. In terms of the numbers – The Friends provides an annual average of $1,000 to approximately 30 individuals a year.
