At the Friends of the Portage Zhang Senior Center, we welcome the opportunity to work with you and your advisors to evaluate your charitable giving strategy. See below to learn more about the many giving options available, each with certain tax benefits and income potential. Every situation is different, so it’s important to examine your charitable goals, lifetime income needs, and family situation.
Together, we can begin the process, determine what works best for you, choose the concepts that will help you realize your objectives, and put this valuable plan in place.
Single Gift, Monthly Gift, Gift in Memory
You can give a gift in cash, by check or in stock. Choose a giving level you can comfortably afford, and discover the joy of being a part of a community of friends. Monthly or recurring gifts make it easy to decide what you want to give and then have funds automatically taken from your account and transferred to the Friends. Check the Friends website or ask at the PZSC Reception desk for information on setting up a recurring gift.
Special Annual Events
The Friends have a long tradition of Special Events where the entire community gets involved in an Annual Golf Outing and a “It’s in the Bag” fundraiser events. One-time events may become recurring events in the future. Be sure to check the PZSC calendar to participate in these fun activities. As you participate, you give funds to the Friends!
Planned Giving
Donations to The Friends of the Portage Zhang Senior Center are often part of a thoughtful, comprehensive estate plan. Gifts from your estate provide a way to complete a lifetime of giving or to make a significant gift that was not possible at an earlier stage of life. Such gifts can also provide advantages such as lifetime income to the donor or others, and may offer certain tax benefits. Consult an attorney or financial advisor about how best you can plan your giving to include the Friends. The Friends Board can also assist in answering questions about various plans.
Annual Appeals
The Friends send PZSC members and potential donors a Fall and Spring appeal letter every year, asking for general operating funds for the Portage Zhang Senior Center. The letter and accompanying brochure are usually sent to every active donor. These appeals, which are sent out around the same time each year, provide a great way for a donor to plan a bi-yearly donation that can be mailed in or paid online through our website.
